GHAZIPUR LANDFILL -  A HUGE DUMP SITE BUT A HUGE CONCERN AS WELL The recent fire outbreak at the Ghazipur landfill waste dump site, in the eastern district of Delhi's has stirred the existing concerns of health and safety for the nearby region and the living conditions of the people. The Ghazipur landfill, is notorious for its immense size and environmental impact. Part of dump site caught fire on the late Sunday night, April 21, 2024 and continued to emit dense smoke into the air on Monday. The fire broke out at the rear end of the Ghazipur landfill, adjacent to the fish market where fresh dumping of waste had recently begun. The incident blanketed parts of Delhi in toxic smoke, raising health concerns for residents.  To combat the blaze, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi deployed field staff and coordinated with a bio-mining agency, diverting five excavator machines for firefighting efforts. Mr. Ajay is a 44-year-old vegetable seller who has been selling vegetables on the street for the past 17 years. Today I had the opportunity to talk to Mr. Ajay about his life and work in depth. here are some question I asked Mr. Ajay about his life, work and their struggle in making a livelihood. Question: Tell me about your life growing up and how you got into selling vegetables on the streets.  Answer: Well, I was born and raised right here in this neighborhood. My family has been living in this area since before my birth. Growing up was simple, but not without its challenges, said Mr. Ajay. RRTS OPERATIONAL TILL MODINAGAR

RRTS NOW OPERATIONAL TILL MODINAGAR NORTH   India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), i.e., Delhi-Meerut RRTS, is now operational until Modinagar north station. The train was flagged off by Hon'ble' Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. Earlier, the train ran from Sahibabad to Duhai depot, which was inaugurated in October 2023. The Prime Minister had also named the train ‘Namo Bharat’ during its initial inauguration ceremony at Sahibabad in 2023. This extension has added a 17-kilometer stretch from Duhai to Modinagar station. This extension encompasses three stations: Muradnagar, Modinagar South, and Modinagar North.                     With the addition of this 17-kilometer section, Namo Bharat will now be available for 34 km of Delhi-Meerut RRTS.
